Bathroom Remodel
Sex, religion, politics, and the bathroom remodel. All of these are subjects best left out of polite conversation, right? Good thing we’re builders and bathroom remodel features are work related. Besides the kitchen, the bathroom is one of the make it or break it rooms in your home. If either of these rooms lack features, or are under-utilized or mismanaged space can daily life becomes hectic and potential buyers could be deterred.
Based on conversations with homeowners who have had Castle Builds perform bathroom renovations in Parker and Castle Rock, we have devised a list of 5 must have bathroom features. Note that a few require an ample size bathroom usually found in Denver’s suburbs.
1. Ample or Hidden Storage
Beyond college, anything with plastic drawers should be thrown out. The world is your oyster now that you’re a homeowner. Explore permanent storage in the form of a wall cabinet or custom storage tower. Remember, Castle Builds can utilize the space between studs. See Here.
Hidden storage is also a great way to mask all of the lotions, potions, and gadgetry found in your bathroom. This is an example of “there when you need it, hidden when you don’t.” Click Here.
2. Walk-in Showers
There is nothing hospital-like about walk-in showers. They’re sleek, safer and often allow for extra space in a normally space deprived commode. Extra bonus: They are often easier to clean, and more durable. Have you ever looked into re-glazing or replacing an old tub? Hold on to your wallet. Another reason? No escaping vapors/steam. Less of this = less mold. Finally, if you experience limited mobility due to age or injury, walk-in showers are the safer choice.
3. Exhaust Fan
Similar to the walk-in shower, exhaust fans prevent mold and mildew taking a stronghold. The other reasons to have one really go without saying. Ever been in a friend’s bathroom right off of the kitchen or dining room and realized they don’t have one? Privacy is sacred.
4. Slip Resistant Tile
Water + Slick Tile = trip to the ER or worse. We can cover your bathroom floor and shower floor with slightly uneven small tiles. You want enough grout lines underfoot to provide traction for slip resistance and small tiles to cover a sloping floor. We like slate for its modern looks and durability.
5. Separate Toilet Room
The ultimate in privacy and perfect for couples, the separate toilet room is a feature heralded for its privacy and practicality. Having to wait for the bathroom could be a thing of the past. If you don’t have the space, we can come up with different designs, like a privacy panel, or placing the porcelain god out of sight, creating a better layout for the entire room.
